They built the house just down the road from here,
From plans they made in \u201953,
With the G I bill and all that they could save,
For the house of their dreams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They cleared the land and left the maple trees,
To grow and one day shade the yard,
Behind the house where the children played,
And the neighbors played their cards.<\/p>\n\n\n
This old house was made by hand,
And through the test of time she stands,
They built her strong and they built her true,
With a door that\u2019s always open,
And love in every room.<\/p>\n\n\n
Their house was always filled with family,
And the neighbor kids would stay so long,
After school and on through dinnertime,
And the street lights came on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Their place was safe and light would often shine
Through the amber window shades,
At night you\u2019d see their shadows dance,
To the music that they played.<\/p>\n\n\n

Now I see them stand and watch the maple trees
And smile and say how much they\u2019ve grown,
